Chief Executive Officer


Sunil_Ramchand_218x240Sunil Ramchand is Mission Essential’s Chief Executive Officer. He leads global business operations and is the chief architect of the Company’s organic and M&A growth strategy.

A long-time member of the Mission Essential family, Sunil first joined the Company in 2009 as Executive Vice President & Chief of Staff and then served as Chief Administrative Officer. He was responsible for managing the corporate staff and leading business support functions for the Mission Essential enterprise, playing an instrumental role in executing its industry-leading language services business. Sunil later served as Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer, repositioning the Company as a trusted analytic and operational partner to the Defense and Intelligence Communities, and growing its intelligence services business with the National Security Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, the military services, and combatant commands.

Sunil is a military veteran and seasoned Defense executive with policy, strategy, operational and acquisition experience. Prior to joining Mission Essential, he served in both military and civilian leadership positions at the White House during the Administrations of President’s Clinton, Bush and Obama. His nearly decade-long White House service culminated as Executive Director of the Office of Presidential Contingency Programs. In that capacity, he coordinated continuity of government and nuclear command & control policy, managed day-to-day operations to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of the Presidency, oversaw sensitive acquisition and construction, and led the White House Military Office’s Presidential Transition Team.

A naval surface warfare officer, Sunil spent years at sea aboard the warships USS LEYTE GULF (CG55) and USS TEMPEST (PC2). He made several overseas deployments and was decorated numerous times for his service.

Sunil earned a Bachelor of Science in Ocean Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, where he was a Secretary of Defense Graduate Fellow. He lives in McLean, Virginia with his wife and children.
